She was wearing a hat at the Pele Juju concert at the state fair.
I’d like to see her without the hat. and not in a totally loud place where you can barely hear your own voice.

Just out of curiousity, to see what yet another one of my mom’s kids looks like. Now this kid is the oldest! Hooray! I think it would be cool to have an older sibling that treats me with respect. perhaps she can put my mom’s other kids in their places when they try to slam mom… Joanne will hear only disparaging words from them.
My sister Wanda has been the one who constantly wonders where Joanne is, the only one who had any certainty she was out there. I thought maybe she was out there, but had no idea where to look.
Mom never talked about her past in detail enough to give us a clue as to where to look.
I shudder to think of Joanne meeting Wanda or Donnie, mom’s other kids. Too bad David didn’t live, he was the only decent one of the bunch. I’m the only one in contact with mom and it kills me to think of her living alone in Arizona but there is no way I can go back to that place. I dunno, I think I want to meet Joanne if only to warn her not to listen anything Jo or Wanda or Donnie says about each other. They all lie like rugs. Mom is fairly harmless unless you get too closely involved in her life and then you are bound to get burned.

I am way more close to my family up here in Alaska… perhaps Joanne would like to meet my dad, Phil, mom’s one and only true love… so she says…she speaks of Wayne like someone she married to get her out of Australia. I have no idea what the truth is. Perhaps if I met Joanne we could figure it all out, and we might be friends and even good sisters… God himself knows I could use one half sibling I could talk to and be optimistic with instead of the constant negativity I get from the others…
who knows. It would be fun I think.

My grandfather’s name was Joe Valli, an actor in Australia. My mother was Josphine Thelma Valli and married my father, Wayne Crown when she was 17. I was born in Australia and then we all came back to the US. My brother was born in Kansas, where my mother and father divorced. My father got custody of us and I never saw my mother again. I have been in contact with her first cousin who currently lives in Australia. She is Olive Kermond and is married to one of the Kermond Brothers of Ice Follies fame. Could you be my half sister?

I met K.D. (Katherine Dawn) once but it was when I was drunk before I got into AA: i had her sign my Salmonberries tshirt on the hood of a car outside CAfe Espress in Flagstaff, Arizona. She was with her mom (Audrey) and her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s mom… they loved my soup and my veggie burgers (I was the cook in the Cafe)...
I’d love to meet her now, since I’m in AA..

I had been playing Janet in the floor show at the Biograph theater in Richmond, Virginia, for about a year or so, when Amadeus opened at the National Theater in Washington, D.C.
I pawned my trumpet and got a ticket, and up we went. I was in the fourth row, center. It was an amazing show. I started the standing ovation!
Afterwords, I was told by the usher that I could wait at the stage door and Mr. Curry would come out to sign autographs, which he did. He was very very nice. Also Jane Seymore and Ian McKellan came out and they all signed my program.
I watched as the three of them ‘snuck’ over to see the Rocky Horror Show (the play) which was playing right across the way.
Don’t ask me why, but I had a sword I’d bought at the GRand Canyon in a gift shop and I gave it to Mr. Curry to use in the play (Hey, I was young!)... it is my thought now that perhaps that was so bizzare that he might remember me one day when I am famous!

2005 was a year of serious transition. I went from being a serious drunk to being a recovering alcoholic, lost my girlfriend, quit my job at the TV station, became way more spiritual, got involved with my church, started getting serious about vocational rehab, spent a week at my dad’s homestead helping harvest the garden and helping with my new brother Adam…
